Lock a phone for anywhere from 15 minutes to two hours, a custom time, or until you unlock it, with a message they see on the lock screen. Set a weekly schedule once: downtime each night, and school time on weekdays with a break if you want one.
Unlock early for a while or until the next lock. A lock you set comes with its own 6-digit PIN, and each phone has a master PIN in your device list, so you can unlock it in your hand even when it's offline.

Minutes are earned, like money.
Screen time goes in a Time Bank of its own. A chore or job can pay in minutes, you can add free minutes every day, week or month, and your shop can sell time for points or spending money at the price you set.
When a lock stops them, they tap the hourglass to ask for more. Every parent hears about it right away, by push and email, and the email shows what they've banked. On an Android phone you can answer from the notification: +15 min, +30 min or +1 hour. The answer is yours.

Block the apps you choose.
Pick from the apps on their phone, system apps too, or block the Play Store and Settings with a switch each. Open a blocked app and the phone goes back home, locks for 5 minutes, and every parent gets an alert, though not one for every retry.
During a lock only the phone and Girmanators itself still work: calls can ring and be answered, the emergency dialer is always there, and they can open the app to ask you for more time.
Where the phone is, and word if it goes quiet.
Tap Locate to see where a phone is now, or where it was last, with its battery, on a map with the places it's been. It reports its location every few minutes, and history older than 30 days is cleared each week. Your child sees what's shared and agrees to it when the phone is set up.
If a phone stops checking in for 2 hours, or someone switches off what protects it, every parent gets a push and an email. Those alerts are always on.
